To Dunedin NZ on the "Brecian" 19 Jan 1866. To Milton for 10 years, established pottery works there: pottery unsuccessful. To Dunedin again 1876. Built Kensington pipe works there, which he owned for some years. To Melbourne 1888.
Founded factory at 296-306 City Rd, Sth Melb, which became White & Hancock when his son-in-law joined him (later White, Hancock & Mills). He retired about 1915.
In 1904 he built "Trelawney" and "Otago " at 135-136 Beaconsfield Pde, and lived there at "Otago" next door to his daughter's family.
