81 Bur: ‘Leigh, William, aged 81, son of John & Mary Leigh. He was born at Weston [Farm] in this parish, & died at Slade in the parish of Salcombe; from whence his remains were brought, and interr’d in his own family Cave in this Church Yard beside those of his first wife Thomasin, d. of Thomas and [blank] Seed in the parish of Salcombe. His second wife was Sarah, d. of the said Thomas [blank] by [blank] of [blank] who survives him, and by whom he has five children - two sons and three daughters. 7 Nov. 15 Nov’. The brackets are as given in the published ed.
124Table Tomb at Branscombe. : ‘Here also lieth the body of William / Leigh Esq. of Slade in the Parish / of Salcombe who departed this life / Novr 8th 1802 aged 82 / He lived well respected and died much lamented.’
