William Carslake of Beer gent erected an MI in Branscombe church to his grandparents and uncles, William & Agnes, William & Edward Bampfield
144 ‘William ob. Aug 1727 at 95’ (sic) in 1869 pedigree
10,80. His Will was proven by Henry Acland Carslake [his grandson] 2 Jan 1828
289 Will made 9 July 1813, describes him as William Carslake of Branscombe, Esq. Codicil dated 25 April 1827 names him as William Carslake, late of Branscombe, now of Borcombe House, Colyton, Esq. Will is very long indeed. Recites Marriage Settlement, made in 1758. ‘One of the Trustees named in the Settlement was John Sampson the Younger. The properties involved were Lees Tenement at Sidford in Sidbury, and Higher Bulstone in Branscombe. William Carslake settled his tenement called 'Borcomb in Culliton' on Elizabeth.’
289 Says 'there are two sons only of the said Marriage videlicet Henry and Edward Bampfield Carslake'. In Codicil says son Edward Bampfield Carslake died October 1819 sans issue. William had several properties, including an estate at Beer.
