Bpt d/o William Treble & Elizabeth25Arrived in Port Phillip on "Westminster" 30 July 1841, having turned 19 that year. The shipping list gives her age as 20, and says that she could read but not write; she is described as a Protestant,from Exeter. On arrival, she was engaged as a houseservant by Mr Whiles of Melbourne for one year at 15 pounds p.a. with rations. She & John were married five days after the year was up, and their first child, Henry,was born three months later, in a tent on Bourke St, Batmans Hill. Two of her daughters died in infancy.
As a widow she lived in Pakington St, Newtown, one door S from the SW corner with Retreat Rd1She was a signatory to the petition to the Victorian State Parliament in 1891 for votes for women.
